Today I want to share a few accounts I follow that I find helpful and not hurtful. Some accounts can cause you to feel stressed or overwhelmed if your life doesn't look just like theirs. That's true for any account, not just things revolving around pregnancy and raising kids! These accounts have made it through two years without an unfollow from me. There's an array, baby sleep, feeding, safety, general mom shit. (Click on the photo to go to the account.)
THE GRANDDADDY OF THEM ALL: TAKING CARA BABIES
Phil and I joke that we'd pay our life savings to Cara, but it's not a joke. Her Instagram, blog and classes are worth your time and money. She is the sleep guru but she also has so many practical tips about parenting and raising kids in general. She highlights things on her Instagram for easy accessiblity, I have tons of her posts saved to my Instragram and her blog is searchable. This sounds great but there are even more goldmine tips within her classes. PAY THE MONEY. We did her infant class with both girls and I will not be ashamed to say I watch it again in the middle of the night when I'm like WTF why won't this baby sleep?! Her sleep training class is also a godsend. She helped us make Charlotte a 12-13 hour a night sleeper! That course will also teach you to drop night feeds and every mama wants that!! She has all the tips and makes you feel like you're doing a great job...which is what we all need at 2am when a baby is yelling at you. She is a former nurse, mom of 4, and her husband is a pediatrician. She knows her stuff. Follow her now. You will not regret it.
Well Rested Mama: Ironically her name is also Cara. She has great (and very similar) tips to Taking Cara Babies. It gives me a sense of comfort knowing that more than one sleep consultant believes in the same process and protocols. She posts more graphics that TCB does which can make looking something up faster. Worth a follow!
Hey Sleepy Baby: Again, another sleep consultant who believes the same as the two above. If you hear the information enough times it will sink in, right? I like her aesthetic and graphics on her page too.
The Pediatrician Mom: Dr. Krupa Playforth is AMAZING. She's got the credentials but she's also funny and keeps it real. Her account shares so many tips about whatever you may need - seriously. Lately, if I've been thinking about something, it pops up on her page. Mackenzie has a cough and I'm thinking about it, open up Instragram and Dr. Playforth has a story about what to do for an infant cough. She's a huge team player and also shares her favorite parenting accounts too. She has a website with downloadable guides for milestones, immunity, RSV, Covid, etc - all for free! Follow her!!
Sheilagh Maguiness: She's a pediatric dermatologist and if you have sensitive skin, your kid probably does too! I first discovered her on Tiktok and have referenced her page every time I want to buy a new lotion, soap, shampoo, etc. She has awesome tips on anything skin related. Follow!!
Solid Starts: This account has great tips on starting solids and helping your child not be a picky eater. They share tips on certain foods specifically and more broad food groups and also safety tip in eating solids - this was the biggest stressor for me with starting solids!
Feeding Littles: This is a team effort, a pediatric dietitian and a feeding specialist. Many pediatricians love this account too. I like that this account uses graphics - makes it quick and easy to read and digest their information. Their highlights are great for recipes and even what to do with Easter and Halloween candy. Plus, this account often puts humor behind feeding your kids, and we all need humor.
Safe Beginnings: If you're wondering if something is safe or how to baby proof something, Holly is your girl. She has information on all the baby items and what's safe and what isn't.
